According to a report from Vanguard Newspaper, West and Central African Leaders will be holding a summit on Wednesday, April 8th, to discuss the creation of a joint strategy aimed at fighting Boko Haram.
The summit will reportedly hold in Malabo, the capital of Equatorial Guinea, and is being jointly organized by the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
Here is an excerpt of ECOWAS’s released statement concerning the meeting:
“In the face of the mounting and increasingly bloody attacks by the fundamentalists against Nigeria, Niger, Cameroon and Chad and the series consequences for these countries, and the real risk of destabilising western and central Africa, the two organisations have decided to take action.”
