A surprise 70th Birthday Bash for rare GEM ‘Dr. Pat.’
Dr Patricia Dike Odimgbe popularly known as Dr Pat is a pediatric doctor and a woman that goes beyond and above in helping others achieve their dream (unconditionally) without expecting anything in return. A rare gem and gift to her generation are some of the words that were used to describe this woman of virtue.
According to friends and family, Dr. Pat did not want any celebrations for her 70th birthday ceremony, which is just part of the humility that reigns supreme in her. However, a lot of her blood and non-blood related children/nephews/nieces/family, and friends, whom she had touched along the way with her numerous acts of kindness decided to throw a very exclusive and private birthday ceremony for her at Royal Sonesta, an elegant and AAA rated Four Diamond hotel located in the heart of the Houston Galleria area.
So many people came from all walks of life and all over the world, including Nigeria, UK, and several other cities within the United States to celebrate this wonderful and youthful woman.
Her Husband, son and daughter also spoke highly of Dr. Pat, serenading her with words descriptive of an invaluable gem that she really is. Several other beneficiaries of her great deeds gave testimonial at the event saying anyone that comes in contact with Dr. Pat, or gets the opportunity to be mentored by her has no choice but to be successful. In order words, that she is a blessing carrier. What a great testimony about someone!
Patt Husband said: “I prayed and you came into my life”
“When you turned 60, I announced to our small world of friends and relatives that ‘I prayed and then came you’ into my life as a cherished gift from God.
Today, when you are at the proverbial milestone age of three score and ten, my proclamation to our well-wishers still remains unchanged.”
Husband ‘Emmanuel Odimgbe’
There have been countless times where young women, coming from Nigeria, were trying to get acclimated to the United States. Without hesitation, my mother would take them in, “nurture” them and provide that maternal figure of guidance.
My mother, Dr. Patricia Dike-Odimgbe, is a humble, nurturing and thought provoking individual. Despite her vast amount of accolades and life accomplishments, I believe the nurturing spirit truly defines my mother.

Memories of an Awesome Mother: I credit my mom for making me the woman I am today. She taught me to recognize and draw on my inner reserve of strength to make it through challenges both big and small. Thank you for not coddling me; for not babying me. Thank you for forcing me to stand up and be a smart-as-a-whip, though as nails, self-confident, assertive and brave woman. Those who know you well also know that I didn’t have a choice. I didn’t stand a chance of being a wallflower or a shrinking violet in our household. You weren’t about to raise that kind of girl. Not a chance!
Everything I am and all that I have can be traced back to your influence and I thank you for all you have instilled in me.
Daughter..
That I am a success in life today is thanks to our parents and a role model like you. That I stayed focus and live in the fear of God despite my numerous life challenges is as a result of the motherly care, love, and advise you continue to give me since our dear mother died fifteen years ago. That my only daughter, Jitty had the privilege of studying in America, be a Magnum Cum Lauda graduate, made an excellent result in her CPA and masters degree exams and doing exceptionally well in Delloit, are all thanks to you and your One in a million husband Chief. Engineer Emmanuel Nwanze Odimgbe.
Dr Pats Sister ‘ Dr Barr Carol Dike-Okorafor’
You deserve all the accolades you’re getting and more. You’ve worn so many hats for so many people, for so long without expecting anything in return. You have touched many lives and all of us have been blessed by such as amazing person for a whole 70 years! May God bless, guide, and give you many more years.
UDF President ‘Oliver Ike Orjiako, PHD
As we celebrate Sister Pat at 70, I am delighted to say that she is one of the best gifts God has ever given to our extended family and to our community. From the period of the Nigerian-Biafran War when I worked with her in taking care of the malnourished children of Biafra to present, I have come to experience her as a very saintly woman full of love, care and compassion for all God’s children in need. It is not a surprise that she has a flourishing Pediatric practice.
Through sharing her lived experience with others, she has effectively provided guidance and support to many of our immigrant families as they struggled to cope with the complexities of the American economic and social life. Through her mentoring endeavors, many of our young married women have now become more responsible wives and mothers. By being involved in the life of each household, our community is more cohesive today than ever before.

Dr Pat Odimgbe (Nyajikwerenweze, Lolo Ichie Ezeugonna of Ihiala), our sister, is an embodiment of many gifts wrapped in one. When someone is very accomplished and still continues with many more giant strides, setting standards, and breaking new grounds in service of mankind, then she deserves to be celebrated. Such are the attributes of Sister Pat. An instrument in the Hands of God.
