According to The Guardian, the one-and-half-year-old boy albino toddler that was kidnapped in northern Tanzania, when unknown attackers holding machetes broke into the mother’s house and snatched the child from her late last week Saturday was found dead with his arms and legs cut off, in the latest of such murder for body parts used by witch doctors in that region.
“Two bandits armed with machetes stormed into their kitchen, they hit his mother with machetes and took away the baby,” the regional police chief Joseph Konyo said earlier in the week. Following the recent development, Konyo told Agence France-Presse on Wednesday: “His arms and legs were hacked off.”
The baby’s mother, Ester Jonas, 30, is reportedly in a serious condition in the hospital as she sustained machete cuts to her face and arms while trying to protect her son. According to a previous report by AFP, Albino body parts are highly sought after in Tanzania as they are often used for witchcraft, thereby increasing the fears that the little boy may be killed and his body parts used for this heinous purpose.
