A mother of three, Marie Gemmell, 36 was killed on Monday as an executive jet reportedly crashed into her house in the Washington suburbs, killing her two young sons, Cole (3) and Devin (six weeks old) and three others on the Jet, Pilot Michael Rosenberg (66), Passengers David Hartman (52), and Chijioke Ogbuka (31). As reported by Reuters, the Maryland mother died huddled in a bathroom trying to shield her two youngest children from the smoke and fire caused by the crash, officials said on Tuesday. The Montgomery County officials confirmed that Gemmell and her two sons are survived by the woman’s husband and her 5-year old daughter who was in school at the time the crash occurred.
It was also reported that a few hours before the crash occurred, Gemmell had posted on her Facebook page on Monday that she just wanted to stay at home and watch TV with her children. In a Facebook post by Marie’s husband on Tuesday, he says “No words can describe the enormity of our loss and sadness over yesterday’s tragedy,”. “We lost Marie, the love of my life and college sweetheart, and our two young, innocent and joyful sons – a loss that no person should ever endure.”
Investigations into the cause of the crash is still underway but it was reported that there was no evidence of a bird strike.
