Rapper DMX was sentenced to 6 months in jail on the night of July 14, 2015 Buffalo, New York, for failing to pay child support. He was arrested last month right before a scheduled performance at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall. According to the Erie County Sheriff’s office, DMX – whose given name is Earl Simmons – was placed in custody on Tuesday.
At the time of his arrest on June 26, DMX hadn’t paid $400,000 worth of child support, the New York City Sheriff Department told WPIX-TV. He was also served warrants from the city of White Plains, New York for bail jumping and a robbery complaint from Newark, New Jersey. The Newark-based charges were dropped.
Shaggy confirmed the news on Twitter, noting that DMX would not be able to perform at Shaggfest.
