In an atmosphere of solemnity at the Presidential villa in Abuja on Friday, 13th March, President Jonathan personally handed over letters of appointment to civil service and promise of N5 million to each of the family who lost a loved one in the stampede for immigration recruitment in 2014.
The President personally committed to providing civil service employment to the 33 members of the 15 families that lost a loved one as a consequence of the tragedy. The tragedy arose when an overwhelming crowd rushed to collect employment forms from the immigration office when it announced openings for recruitment.
The audience at the event were solemn and still mourning from their bereavement.
