United States President Barack Obama made his first visit to his homeland, Kenya, which represents his first trip to the country since becoming the US President. Air Force One, landed in the evening in the Kenyan capital on Friday and he was warmly welcomed by his half sister, Auma Obama, Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta and other top Kenyan officials.
Although, the purpose of the trip was partly official, the US President also used the opportunity to connect with his roots. On Friday, Obama also dined with his half sister and about 30 members of his extended family still living in Kenya during the visit, Reuters reports.
The president sat beside his step grandmother and half sister, Auma, whom he bonded greatly with during their first meeting in his late 20s working as a campaigner in Chicago.
