Pastor Creflo Dollar recently asked his 200,000 followers to donate $300 each to enable the church buy a luxury jet costing a whopping $65 million that will enable them reach out to preach the word worldwide. The funding request is being made after the older plane used by the Georgia-based pastor had two recent mishaps, with the 1st being an engine failure while on a trip to Australia and the second was a runway accident with his wife and daughters on board, which was said to have been a result of a mechanical failure as well. Although the Pastor specifically asked for $300 from 200,000 donors, the written request stated: “Your love gift of any amount will be greatly appreciated.,” according to Huffington Post.
This call to action by the Church was tagged “Project G650” and was originally posted on Creflo Dollar Ministries’ website but has since been taken down, According to Media reports it was named after the Gulfstream G650 aircraft that the World Changers Church claims to need after an older plane got grounded.
“We believe it is time to replace this aircraft so that our Pastors and staff can continue to safely and swiftly share the Good News of the Gospel worldwide,” the copy read.
“… Therefore, we are asking members, partners, and supporters of this ministry to assist us in acquiring a Gulfstream G650 airplane so that Pastors Creflo and Taffi and World Changers Church International can continue to blanket the globe with the Gospel of grace.”
According to Christian Post, the appeal further stated:
“The ministry’s current airplane, was built in 1984, purchased by the ministry in 1999 and has since logged four million miles. Recently on an overseas trip to a global conference, one of the engines failed. By the grace of God, the expert pilot, who’s flown with Creflo for almost 20 years, landed the plane safely without injury or harm to any passengers.”
“Due to this recent incident coupled with the 31 years the airplane has been in service, we believe it is time to replace this aircraft so that our Pastors and staff can continue to safely and swiftly share the Good News of the Gospel worldwide. Believe it or not, there are still millions of people on this planet who have never heard of Jesus Christ and know nothing of His greatness. Our hearts desire to see precious lives changed and snatched out of darkness and thrust into His marvelous light! We need your help to continue reaching a lost and dying world for the Lord Jesus Christ,” the appeal continued before asking supporters of the ministry to sow a $300 seed into the airplane fund, billed Project G650.
“The mission of Project G650 is to acquire a Gulfstream G650 airplane so that Pastors Creflo and Taffi and World Changers Church International can continue to blanket the globe with the Gospel of grace. We are believing for 200,000 people to give contributions of 300 US dollars or more to turn this dream into a reality — and allow us to retire the aircraft that served us well for many years,” the appeal noted.
Flying Magazine’s desription of the G650 plane in 2013 is stated below:
“The G650 is the biggest, fastest, most luxurious, longest range and most technologically advanced jet — by far — that Gulfstream has ever built.”
