The Nigerian National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) recently apprehended a man with 35.115 kilogram of Indian Hemp hidden inside the “Gala” sausage rolls pack, which he was attempting to smuggle into China, according to Premium Times.
The man, Friday Ogbonna, 33 was nabbed at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport while screening the passengers en-route to China. According to the agency, Mr. Ogbonna told investigators that he was given N100K to smuggle the drugs to China.
NDLEA chairman ‘Ahmadu Giade’ was reported to have said:
“It is pertinent to alert members of the public of fresh plot by drug barons to smuggle cannabis to countries with capital punishment for drug trafficking because of the high profit involved” .
“Drug barons are wicked and callous. They are only interested in making money even at the risk of others sacrificing their precious lives.”
