In the new issue of Fashion magazine, Anna Kendrick opens up about the lessons she learned when her parents split years ago when she was just 15 years old. Now, 29, the “Up In The Air” star admits that this divorce, though painful, taught her a lot about love.
“They taught me that staying together for the kids is the wrong approach”, she says. “It perpetuates this warped idea of what a healthy relationship looks like”.
Kendrick’s take on the matter of a divorce comes as no surprise, given what she’s said about her childhood years in the past. Back in June, the actress and singer, told Elle Magazine that she never felt deprived since her parent’s decided to take a divorce and that she still thinks it was the right way to go: “I hate when people think you’re broken because your parents are divorced – I really reject the idea of staying together for the kids. If they’re growing up in a house that’s not healthy, it’s better to know that’s not the model of what marriage should be”.
Asked about her own love life, Kendrick tells the magazine that she tries to stay away from charming men that have nothing really to offer, unlike the version of Cinderella that she plays in her latest movie, “Into The Woods” and also refers to her co-star: “I’ve never really gone for the razzle-dazzle types, no quarterbacks, no flashy guys and no “Prince Charming”. Chris Pine’s version of Prince Charming in the film is so funny, and so on-point, and very much all style and no substance”, she states. “Once (a date) picked me up in a Mustang and he was leaning on the hood of it. He was waiting for me and I was inside my apartment, looking out the window, thinking Oh, this is going to go terribly“.
So now, we know what it takes to win Anna Kendrick’s heart!
