There has been an online battle between Donald Trump and the reigning Miss Universe. After Trump’s outburst about Mexicans that almost cost him the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants, a lot of people/organisations have expressed their outrage over the matter.
One of which is the current Miss Universe, Paulina Vega, who described the billionaire’s comments as “unjust and hurtful”. The vocally minded US presidential candidate slammed the Columbia beauty by saying:
“Paulina Vega, criticized me for telling the truth about illegal immigration, but then said she would keep the crown-Hypocrite”.
The fight has taken another phase as the 22 years old beauty queen responded to Trump in an interview with Latina magazine, that her stance on Trump’s racial remarks was, in no way, related to her crown.
“It doesn’t make any sense that Donald Trump calls me a hypocrite because I’m not giving up my crown,” she told the lifestyle magazine.
“I have a legally binding contract and legal relationship with the organization and it’s not so easy for me, like the artists have done, to renounce and say, ‘No. I’m not working for you anymore.’… So it’s a much more complicated situation, but we have to understand that Trump is a very polemic person,” she added.
It would be interesting to see if Trump would respond to this latest information or whether he will let it slide. The Miss Universe and Miss USA pageants have received a lot of backlash ever since Trump declared that Mexican immigrants are:
“bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, they’re rapists, and some, I assume, are good people.”
