Los Angeles County judge ruled recently that there was enough evidence against former rap mogul Marion “Suge” Knight to stand trial on murder and attempted murder charges for allegedly plowing his truck into two people in a Compton restaurant parking lot earlier this year, according to Hollywood Reporter.
Superior Court Judge Ronald Coen made the ruling at the end of a preliminary hearing in which the surviving alleged victim related portions of his statements to investigators implicating Knight and repeatedly claimed not to remember details about the incident.
Knight was a well known rap mogul reportedly connected with gangs and the judge has weighed the gang members’ potential intimidation of witnesses after considering the CCTV footage of the crime scene.
The surviving witness of the assault, a guy that goes by the name of Sloan who has also been a friend of Knight for years has refused to testify against him, claiming lapse of memory.
The camera caught a limited view of the parking lot but shows Knight struggling with Sloan through the window of his vehicle before putting it in reverse, striking Sloan, then hitting him again and running over Carter (the deceased) while fleeing the scene.
