Jimmy Carter who was the US President from 1976 – 1980 under the Democratic Party recently defended President Barrack Obama’s absence at the recent Paris rally which took the whole world by surprise and generated a series of criticism on President Obama’s government for not having at least one single high-level government official present at the Unity Protest March in Paris as a form of solidarity with the French to protest against terror attacks. The 90-year-old Former President said in his interview with Yahoo Global News Anchor Katie Couric: “President Obama’s just come back from vacation, and I know how it is when you’ve been gone for a week or two,” Carter said in an interview.”…..“Your desk is piled up, and he had other pressing problems to address. So I don’t think there’s any reflection on our country or no criticism is worthy.”
His comments however seem to be a wide departure from the more apologetic tone from the official United States White House Press Release announced by Press Secretary Josh Earnest who said: “I think it’s fair to say that we should have sent someone with a higher profile. The president himself would’ve liked to have been there but that the last-minute nature of the rally made logistics and security all but impossible.”
