The plane crash that killed at least 135 people on the Indonesian military transport was caused by a faulty propeller.
It was discovered that the propeller was not working on one of the engines of the plane.
It was reported that the plane carrying 122 people smashed into the city of Medan, on the Indonesian island of Sumatra, some minutes after taking off. The accident led to the burning of a number of buildings in Medan.
In report compiled by CNN, it was revealed by the chief of the Indonesian air force, Air Marshal Agus Supriatna that the pilot asked the control tower for permission to return to base shortly before the four-engine turboprop plane went down.
Among the casualties were military personnel and their family members including 13 people who were killed on the ground.
