Famed US mathematician, John Nash, whose life inspired the Oscar-winning film “A Beautiful Mind“, has died in a car crash with his wife, according to New Jersey State Police. Nash is also renowned for his work in game theory, winning the Nobel Prize for Economics in 1994.
Nash, 86, and his 82-year-old wife Alicia were riding in a taxi near Monroe Township when the taxi went out of control while trying to pass another car, according to CNN. The car reportedly crashed into the guard rail, and the couple was ejected from the vehicle. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
The taxi driver, Tarek Girgis, was flown to Robert Wood Johnson hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A passenger in the other car had complaints of neck pain and was also transported by ground to Princeton University Hospital.
No charges have reportedly been filed in the accident, which is still under investigation.
May their souls rest in perfect peace.
