Don Cheadle is known speaking his mind apologetically, and on a recent interview with Bossip’s Don’t Be Scared podcast, he did not hold back when it came to discussing the recent scandal involving Bill Cosby. He talked about why he believes a few folks in the Black community refuse call him out for his actions and accept Cosby as a predator which he is.
“I thnk there’s some of that [Believe] in the Black community that of course they want to take our hero down, we can’t have a hero. They’re always trying to take down someone we look up to and it’s a part of a wider white conspiracy to destroy us,” he said. “Well, there is some [accuracy] with that, in my opinion, in some ways. But I don’t think this is that at all. I think this is a powerful man that has a proclivity to have sex with women where they cannot say no.”
He further discussed the scandal, when Cheadle was asked what his thoughts were regarding Cosby giving drugs to women to “relax” them, to which he responded:
“I don’t buy his story, personally, that he did this to relax her. No! You’re a f****n’ predator to me.”
Cheadle also mention from what he remembered once, while working with Cosby in the past for a short period of time; Cosby’s unpleasant ways extended beyond his intimate interactions with women — his professional etiquette was also apparently sub par.
“I worked with the dude for five minutes and I always kind of feel like you can tell how a person is based on how they treat the ‘least among you,’ or the lesser among you,” he said. “That’s really to me how a person is, and he treated the extras [on set] like s**t. He treated the people around him that were in an assistance position — he didn’t treat them well. I don’t shine on people who are like, ‘Yeah, I treat all the leads cool and then I yell at the guy who’s getting me coffee.’ You should be really, really nice to that guy. That, to me, told me who he was.”
