According to NBC News, 4 suicide bombers struck a pair of crowded Mosques, truck Badr and al-Hashoosh mosques during Friday prayers, which is traditionally the busiest time of the week in the Yemeni Capital today killing over 110 people and injuring at least 350 people.
The ISIS‘ faction in Yemen have also claimed responsibility for the attacks, according to Flashpoint Intelligence, a global security firm and NBC News consultant.
According to the report, both mosques were hit by two bombers each using a similar tactics whereby one detonateded his explosives inside the building while the second waited outside as people fled for their lives before blowing himself up.
A witness at the one of the mosques told the AP he was thrown two meters by the blast.
“The heads, legs and arms of the dead people were scattered on the floor of the mosque,” Mohammed al-Ansi told the AP. “Blood is running like a river.”
It was also reported that another suicide bombing attack was attempted at a 3rd mosque in Sa’adah, northern Yemen, but the bomber was unable to get past security and he blew himself up outside but there were no resultant casualties.
