Juacelo Nunes de Oliveira miraculously escaped death after he was stabbed in an attack at a party in Agua Branca in Piauiin, Brazil. Not only was he stabbed in the head with a 12-inch knife, but the blade also remained in his head for almost 3 hours!
The Brazilian taxi driver, who is lucky to still be alive, was stabbed 4 times in total, in the attack that happened a few days ago, CNN reports. The 39-year-old somehow survived this horrible ordeal and was taken to a nearby hospital, before he was transferred to the Emergency Hospital of Teresina, which was 62 miles away.
According to doctors who spent more than 2 and a half hours carefully removing the weapon, the kitchen knife was firmly stuck in his head and piercing from his left eyebrow down to his lower jaw, for more than 3 hours!
Hospital director, Dr. Gilberto Albuquerque said that the victim was “not even aware” that the knife was in his head. “We believe that the shock and a bit of the drinking may have helped him not to understand the knife was still in his head”, he told CNN. The doctor also explained how Oliveira is miraculously still alive, but will also not suffer from any “ill-after-effects”: “The knife crossed his head just behind the optical nerve, got very close to the olfactory nerve and was just a fraction from the gustatory nerve. He could have been blinded and could have lost his senses of smell and taste, but none of that happened and he is alive and healthy.”
Oliveira has since been discharged from the Hospital while the police continue to investigate the attack.
