Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 21, one of the two brothers involved in the worst terrorist attack on American soil since September 11th, 2001, was found guilty on all 30 counts of charges before the federal court in Boston on Wednesday, 8th April.
The jury of 7 women and 5 men returned with the verdict of guilty on all counts of conviction before federal judge George O’Toole. The trial involved the prosecution calling a total of 92 witnesses over a period of 15 days. The jury will decide and weigh on the death penalty early next week, according to a source from USAtoday.
The defense contention was that he was just playing second fiddle to his elder brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev did not hold grounds in the eyes of the jury. His elder brother was killed in a police shoot out aftermath of the marathon bombing incident as federal agents mounted a manhunt for the perpetrators of the bombing.
The bombing was deemed one of the worse terrorist attack in US history where 4 people were killed and 260 injured.
“I don’t know what justice is,” said Karen Brassard, a bombing survivor when asked for her reaction to the verdict. “I am grateful to have him off the street. I’m grateful to show that everyone in the world that this is not tolerated, this is not how we behave.”
