Bono, a singer and front-man of one of the most famous rock bands ever, U2, recently shocked his fans when he made the statement that he may never be able to play the guitar again.
It all started on November 16 when the Irish musician had a fatal bike crash accident in Central Park, New York. The accident left him so torn up that he admitted on the band’s website, he may never be able to pick up a guitar again in his life! He actually made his first comments about the wreck, in this year-end message, saying that he totally “blanked out on impact”. The singer then added: “I have no memory of how I ended up in New York Presbyterian with my humerus bone sticking through my leather jacket. Very punk rock as injuries go”.
According to New York Daily News, Bono broke his left shoulder in three places, shattered his left upper arm, and broke a bone in the orbit of his left eye in the severe accident, which doctors said occurred when he swerved to avoid another rider. Surgeons needed 5 hours, three metal plates and 18 screws to knit the mangled front-man back together.
Although the acclaimed vocalist mused that he will now be the only member of rock ‘n roll royalty to have a titanium elbow he also remained realistic regarding the severity of his injuries: “Recovery has been more difficult than I thought… As I write this, it is not clear that I will ever play guitar again”, he underlined. The 54-year-old rocker however mentioned that he will surely be ready for the band’s 2015 tour, starting in May from Vancouver, Canada.
We hope Bono gets well soon !!
