Angelina Jolie could not ask for a better Christmas present this year, as her new movie, “Unbroken” was the big winner of Christmas Day box office earning more than $15 million.
The drama movie, which is Jolie’s second directorial effort brought in $15.59 million, taking the No. 1 spot at the US box office. Starring Jack O’Connell, Domhnall Gleeson, and Garrett Hedlund among others and also featuring the acclaimed Coen brothers in sciptwriting.
Coming in 2nd place, Disney’s fairy tale “Into the Woods” made $15.08 million while The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies made the 3rd place, making $13.14 million. One of Robin Williams’ last movies, Ben Stiller’s Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb carted $7.35 million while Mark Wahlberg’s The Gambler with $5 million, completes the first five films of the box office.
Elsewhere, Seth Rogen’s and James Franco’s controversial satirical comedy The Interview made it up to 15th place on the charts making $1.04 million, though it was only shown in just 331 theaters.
