According to New York Times, the German luxury car-maker has come out with a smart and driverless version of Mercedes Benz, but the vehicle is still under testing and not available for sale yet. The driverless version has all the trappings of a driverless car that has been the race of technological giants such as Apple and Google and recently Tesla, the fully electrical car maker.
The Mercedes F015 has a swivel front driver seat, where the driver can turn back and face the back passenger while the car is being driven. The vehicle is fully self-driven without human intervention but can be opted out to be driven manually by the driver at a touch of a button, much like a pilot who wishes to disengage the auto-pilot. The vehicle can be summoned by a smart phone and stopped to pick you up right in front of your feet.
According to New York Times, the F015 has been tested in a busy urban metropolitan city which had heavy traffic and incessant traffic lights coupled with heavy pedestrians crossing the roads.
Awesome!
