If you did not see the spectacular pearl-covered dress Lupita Nyong’o wore to the 2015 Academy Awards, then you need to check it out right here! The gown was exclusively designed for the 12 years a slave star actress by Calvin Klein and made her once again the cynosure of all eyes as she walked on Oscars 2015 Red Carpet.
The actress reportedly worked with designer Francisco Coast to create the the halter-neck gown adorned with over 6,000 natural pearls and valued at approximately $150,000. “It was so much fun to create this dress. We talked about it being fluid and liquid. I wanted it to be an homage to the sea,” Lupita told Yahoo Style.
The dress definitely got so much media attention, which may have sparked someone’s interest in stealing it from Nyong’o’s room at the London Hotel in West Hollywood on Tuesday. But, the big question is – who actually had the guts to pilfer such a unique dress?
According to TMZ reports, several people had access to Nyong’o’s hotel room including managers, agents, friends, hair stylists, makeup artists etc. But, the nice part of this is that the surveilance camera from the hotels should contain footage showing who the culprit is. TMZ confirmed that the police are reviewing tape from 9a.m. to 8p.m. on the day the theft incident happened. “We got a call at about 11:30 last night from someone at the London Hotel about a high value dress that was stolen from a hotel room,” Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Officer John Mitchell said.
The spokesman for London Hotel released the following statement: “This is a terribly unfortunate situation and we are working with law enforcement on their investigation.”
