Mama Peace has suddenly taken a break from the public!
Nigeria’s First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan has not been seen in public since the presidential election result was announced and President Goodluck Jonathan lost the election to Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) of the All Progressives Congress. The first lady has also not made any public statements that she became infamous for during the presidential election campaign. She did encourage Nigerian women to support the wife of president-elect, Aisha Buhari through a statement released by her media assistant, Ayo Adewuyi, (click here if you missed it), but other than that, we haven’t heard or seen much of the first lady since then.
According to reports by Punch, Patience Jonathan hosted visitors at the President’s official residence on the same day dignitaries came to show solidarity and commend President Jonathan for conceding defeat to Gen. Buhari.
A former government official said that, “After meeting the President in the new Banquet Hall located within the premised of his office, I also visited the First Lady inside the President’s residence before leaving. She was in high spirit when I met her,”
Patience Jonathan reportedly did not attend the Good Friday service held inside the Aso Villa Chapel and she was also not seen at the Easter Sunday service.
However, a source told Punch that Mrs. Jonathan is currently in the United Kingdom to sort out some domestic issues.
“She is in UK. She may use the opportunity of the trip to visit her children”.
