A homeless, malnourished and totally frightened dog was recently rescued from a sewer tunnel, by ‘Rescue from the Hart’, animal rescue group based in Los Angeles. Bitty, as the cute male dog was named later, looked unrecognizably great within hours of her rescue.
Annie Hart who is the founder of the group, spoke to The Huffington Post about the rescue, pointing out that the group arrived just in time before it was too late for little Bitty who was lucky enough to have prevented hum from drowning shortly after.
‘When we received the call for help, we were told that there had originally been two dogs, but one drowned earlier in the day during a rainstorm. With another storm on its way, we rushed to the location to try and save Bitty in time’, Hart said.
Hart rescued Bitty with the help of Eldad Hagar, who is the founder of another animal rescue group, named ‘Hope for Paws’. As shown in the touching video below, Hagar gently earned the terrified dog’s trust and coaxes Bitty out of the dark tunnel.
Once rescued and smothered with love, Bitty was cleaned up, fed and of course given his name.
‘The change from scared to loving is heartwarming to watch’, Hart said.
Bitty is currently living with a foster family and is searching for a permanent home through ‘The Forgotten Dog Foundation’.
This is how Bitty looks today!
So, hats off to these people and their rescue groups who have saved hundreds of animals with their precious work.
