While speaking with Yahoo Style on Wednesday, Paris Hilton stated that she believes Kim Kardashian’s rise to fame would never have happened if she had not achieved stardom first. The 34-year-old made this revelation when she was specifically asked if she agreed that the ‘Kardashians would not exist today’ without her, and her response was:
‘It’s nice to inspire people, We’ve known each other since we were little girls, we’ve always been friends.’
She also added: ‘So yeah, I’m really proud of her and what she’s done.’
From Paris’s point of view, she paved the way for Kim, her childhood friend who later transitioned into her personal assistant and closet arranger to achieve international fame!
The Hilton heiress first became known in Hollywood as a party circuit fixture and model, but it was her 2003 sex tape 1 Night In Paris that earned her overnight success. Shortly after, ‘The Simple Life’ reality show premiered that same year.
‘The Simple Life was basically one of the first reality shows,’ she recalled during the interview. ‘So we had no idea what we were getting into. Nicole and I would just have fun wherever we would go.‘
‘The Simple Life‘ followed Paris and her then-best friend Nicole Richie, Lionel Richie’s daughter, as they abandoned their wealthy lifestyle to perform low-wage jobs like maids, fast-food workers, etc.
The reality TV show aired for three seasons on the network, and later moved to E! for two more before it was finally canceled in August 2007. Following in her footsteps, the ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians‘ reality TV show premiered two months after The Simple Life was canceled in 2007.
