Hillary Clinton officially announced on Sunday that she would be running for US president in 2016! This announcement ends two years of speculation regarding whether Bill Clinton’s wife will be seeking the presidency for a second time.
“I’m running for president,” she said with a smile near the end of a two-minute video released just after 3 p.m, New York Times reports.
“Everyday Americans need a champion. And I want to be that champion,” Mrs. Clinton said. “So I’m hitting the road to earn your vote — because it’s your time. And I hope you’ll join me on this journey.”
“Americans have fought their way back from tough economic times,” Clinton says in the video. “But the deck is still stacked in favor of those at the top.”
According to an email from her top aide John Podesta that was posted by Jesse Berney on Twitter, Hillary Clinton will be traveling to Iowa soon to “start talking directly with voters,” and to hold a formal campaign kickoff next month.
