This is such a tragedy! The ‘Everybody Loves Raymond,’ star Sawyer Sweeten died of possible suicide, MTV News reports. The report also claimed that Sweeten committed suicide with a gunshot wound to the head, while visiting family in Texas. Sweeten’s rep also confirmed today, April 23 that the actor passed away at age nineteen, just before his 20th birthday.
Sweeten played the role of Geoffrey Barone as a child, in the long-running sitcom “Everybody Loves Raymond.” His real-life siblings, sister Madylin Sweeten and twin brother Sullivan Sweeten, also acted alongside with him on the Emmy-winning series.
The Sweeten family have since released a statement confirming the tragic news.
“This morning a terrible family tragedy has occurred. We are devastated to report that our beloved brother, son, and friend, Sawyer Sweeten, took his own life. He was weeks away from his 20th birthday,” the statement reads. “At this sensitive time, our family requests privacy and we beg of you to reach out to the ones you love.”
