The tail portion of the AirAsia plane with the words “AirAsia” clearly visible on it became the first major part of the wreckage that was recovered from the ocean floor on Saturday, but the black box was not found inside.

Investigator, Mardjono Siswosuwarno, also told CNN that pings coming from about 500 meters from where the airplane’s tail was found were picked up by smaller boats.”I think we will be able to find the black boxes in a few days, because the location where pings were detected is not very far from the tail,” Siswosuwarno said.
