An Alaska Airlines flight that was traveling out of Los Angeles to Portland was delayed on Saturday night after a passenger got stung on the hand by a scorpion as the flight was preparing for departure! The flight was delayed for less than an hour.because the crew members of Flight 567 had to search the plane for the unwanted arachnid and kill the scorpion before the flight could take off.
The female passenger who could not take the flight had to be checked out by medics at the gate and declined further medical attention, Cole Cosgrove, Alaska Airlines spokesman said. It still remains unclear how the scorpion got on the plane, which had arrived in Los Angeles from Los Cabos, Mexico,
Members of the Oregon State University’s men and the University of Portland’s women’s basketball teams were aboard the flight and as you can imagine, the news quickly got on Twitter. A glum Oregon State Hoops twitter account tweeted this: “Tough week for Beavs just got tougher. A scorpion just bit woman two rows in front of @waynetinkle. Plane had to go back to LAX. True story.”
