Clarence Thomas is the only black Supreme Court justice sitting in the US Supreme Court and he was nominated by then outgoing U.S. President George Bush in 1991 to serve this Republican conservative agenda. His confirmation hearing before the Senate in 1991 turned into an American soap opera when his aide, Anita Hill accused him of sexual harassment. Despite much drama that transfixed the nation, including Clearance Thomas accusation of the Senate Judiciary Committee of racism, he was confirmed as Supreme Court Justice and he is still serving until today.
Sexual harassment has become a focal point of American public in the past and up till now, and the confirmation hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee came amid this atmosphere, where the late American Senator Edward Kennedy was the Chairperson who was specifically concerned with this issue. Clearance Thomas maintained to the end that he did not sexually harass his assistant, Anita Hill who is also a black American.
Now, HBO is bringing the whole drama again in a movie starring Kerry Washington as Anita Hill. The movie’s script will be written by Susannah Grant who will also be the Executive Producer for the movie, according to Hollywood Insider and reported by DailyMail.co.uk.
Anita Hill has thereafter been highlighting the issues of sexual harassment in the workplace and currently an advocate against such bad practices!
