Rapper DMX was reportedly arrested a few days ago in New York City for failure to pay approximately $400,000 in child support, while charges over a previous alleged gas station robbery were dropped, according to E! News!
A New York City Sheriff’s Office spokesperson told local TV station WPIX-11 that DMX was taken into custody for “several issues outstanding,” including a warrant issued over his alleged failure to pay some $400,000 in back child support according to the report. On Saturday, he appeared before a judge and was then detained again over an outstanding arrest warrant for bail jumping in a different county, officials told New York Daily News.
It was further reported that on Friday, Police waited outside Radio City Music Hall for DMX and detained him for the child support claim moments before he was supposed to take the stage at the Masters of Ceremony concert, The New York Daily News reports, quoting police sources.
“As soon as he stepped out of his vehicle, they grabbed him and drove off with him,” one of them told the outlet.
New Jersey authorities on the other hand dropped charges against the 44-year-old rapper over an April gas station robbery case after the victim could not identify him on surveillance video. DMX’s lawyer had told E! News that the robbery accusation was “completely absurd,” and no criminal charges were ever filed against the rapper.
