While addressing a gathering attended by all Benue State gubernatorial candidates in Makurdi, Benua State ahead of the governorship election on Saturday, April 11; INEC Chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega emphatically said that the era of winning an election in Nigeria through unscrupulous means – by hook or by crook – is over.
Professor Jega has been highly commended for his role in ensuring the Presidential and National Assembly elections held two weeks ago were conducted in a free and fair manner, while thwarting plans by others to influence or sabotage the poll though his fierce sense of impartiality.
His propriety in conducting the poll as dictated by the democratic process has won applaud from the United States government, which led President Barrack Obama to award him a letter of commendation. Click here if you missed it!
