According to a New York Times report, Nigerian troops reportedly rescued 200 girls and 93 women on Tuesday in the Sambisa Forest region, in northeastern Nigeria, as announced by the Nigerian Armed Forces via its official Twitter account. Since this forest, which is a stronghold for the militant Boko Haram group is not far from Chibok, there was widespread speculation that some of the previously abducted Chibok girls may have been part of those recently rescued.
However, a more recent report by CNN and the Associated Press, confirmed that the girls rescued from the Boko Haram terror camps in Sambisa Forest on Tuesday are “not the Chibok girls,” Nigerian Army spokesman Sani Usman said.
