The Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) on 5th of January was reported to be actively appealing to the National Sports Commission (NSC) to solicit the organization’s financial support so that the Nigerian team can participate in the upcoming African continent wide tournament “2015 International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) “. This tournament is scheduled to be held in Cairo, Egypt from the 23rd through 29th of January, and it seems like the team would not be able to participate in the competition if their financial needs are not met. The tournament in Egypt is to select a qualifying team that will representing the African continent at the world championship level which is schedule to be held in China later this year.
The solution to their financial woes rest with the National Sport Council and hopefully, if the Nigerian government can make more room for such organizations in the national budget, it will yield tangible benefits in the development of other sports in the country as a whole. Furthermore, if a Nigerian can proceed to the next round at the international championship level, this will definitely make the country more recognized and known in other sports apart from Soccer.
