After the discovery of three giant holes in the ground of the Yamal Peninsula in northern Siberia last July, scientists are now baffled once again at the appearance of four more huge craters. The investigation on these mysterious holes is still ongoing, with researchers maintaining that there may be dozens more holes in the area and calling for urgent investigation to protect the residents.
‘I am sure that there are more craters on Yamal, we just need to search for them.I suppose there could be 20 to 30 craters more’, Professor Vasily Bogoyavlensky told The Siberian Times. ‘It is important not to scare people, but to understand that it is a very serious problem and we must research this.’
