Young African entrepreneurs came face to face with the continent’s most successful businessman, Aliko Dangote, in the latest episode of MTV Base Meets…with MTN.
Nigerian Dangote, 54, has a lot to teach African youth about entrepreneurship: according to a recent issue of prestigious US publication, Forbes Magazine, the self-made billionaire is now the richest man in Africa and the 51st richest person in the world – with a net worth of US $13.8 billion.

Starting with relatively humble beginnings in 1977 thanks to a loan from his wealthy uncle, Dangote has since built one of Africa’s largest conglomerates, employing more than 12,000 people. While cement remains the most prized jewel in his crown, Dangote’s sphere of influence now spans sugar, oil & gas, transportation, banking and textiles, exporting, importing, manufacturing, real-estate and philanthropy, among others.
Putting Dangote on the spot at Lagos’ Eko Hotel were Nigerian investment banker and MBA student J.G. Ayodele; Zimbabwean born US based Public Administration Masters student Farayi Chipungu; photographer Yomi Black from Lagos and Liberian singer Jerrilyn.
