In another story about Tunisia, the mother of the Tunisian gunmen who killed 38 people on a beach has said she cannot believe that her son would carry out such a massacre, stating that he is also a victim, The Independent reports.
Seifeddine Rezgui, 23, was identified as the gunman who was involved in the incident (click here to read more) that occurred in a beach in Sousse involving 30 Britons.
He was shot dead by security forces and his mother Radhia Manai, 49, said she believes her son was “brainwashed”. In an interview with Sunday Times, she said that her son could not kill anything and she believes someone had pressurized him to carry out the massacre.
She sympathized with the families of the victims but said that it was a different Seifeddinne that committed the crime.
“God bless the victims, all those people and their poor families, and I feel so sorry but I want to tell them it wasn’t my son who did this, it was a different Seifeddine,” said Manai.
She further stated that her son is a victim like all others and that she hopes the person behind the attacks would be killed or imprisoned. She urged the British authorities to get to the bottom of the incident.
