In filming the music video of Maroon 5’s hit, “Sugar“, the group actually worked with “Wedding Crashers” director, David Dobkin and crashed real weddings for the shoot!
The goal of the group was actually to surprise couples with unanticipated performances of their song during their wedding parties and remain hidden behind a big white sheet until the revealing moment. And as you will notice, the pop-rock band pretty much achieved this! At the beginning of the video, frontman and singer, Adam Levine explains: “We’re gonna drive across LA and hit every wedding we possibly can.”
The video was filmed back in December and every couple reacted differently with some immediately hitting the dance floor while others remained on their seats astounded, yelling “What the f*ck?!”, after recognizing the famous band.
Adam Levine stated: “It was an out-of-body experience. I had no idea I would be affected by the overwhelming reactions we received from the couples and guests. Being able to create an unforgettable experience for several people was the highlight of it all.” And, if you are wondering how the group managed to pull of such a surprise, a representative who talked with ET revealed that the grooms were the only people that knew about this.
