Madonna has given her fans an early Christmas present by releasing 6 songs from her upcoming album Rebel Heart after uncompleted demos were leaked online earlier in the week. The record company’s initial plan was to release the album in spring 2015, but the online leak forced them to officially release 6 brand new tracks on iTunes and other music retailers with immediate effect.
However, the Queen of Pop was not too ecstatic about this sudden release and appeared to have been a bit disappointed about this ‘artistic rape and a form of terrorism’, as she called it. The statement made by Madonna on her official website was more explanatory: ‘The decision to release the songs much earlier than anticipated was due to the leaking of several work-in-progress demos earlier this week.’
Later the 56-year-old popstar was quoted as saying: ‘I would prefer my fans to hear completed versions of some of the songs instead of the incomplete tracks that are circulating. Please consider these 6 songs as an early Christmas gift.’ She also gave away some more information on what the original plans for her album release were: ‘I was hoping to release my new single Living For Love on Valentine’s Day with the rest of the album coming in the spring.’
This will be Madonna’s 13th album and one of the 6 released songs, titled ‘Bitch, I’m Madonna’ features rising hip-hop star Nicki Minaj.
