Nollywood Actor ‘Chet Anekwe‘ posted a bold statement about Cleveland Cavaliers’ young guard ‘Matthew Dellavedova‘ on his Facebook wall; which I strongly disagree with! Dellavedova is of course currently one of the most beloved Cleveland Cavaliers NBA favorite who shot 3-for-14 from the field and 2-for-9 from deep in Game 4, scoring 10 points and dishing four assists. If you are only looking at his stats for Game 4, then you might just agree with what Chet had to say, which is something that is being echoed by so many critics.
Here is what he posted:
I got to say Dellavadova is the worst skilled person I have ever seen on a NBA court, earning an NBA paycheck.
I think that’s why people like him. They feel like “Hey, even if I’m not real tall, can’t really jump, have a suspect jump shot and have no real ball handling skills, but I can HUSTLE? I too can play in the NBA!”

As we already know, Chet is someone who often speaks his mind and articulates his words with facts; however, this is where i disagree with him regarding Dellavedova – you don’t necessarily have to be an excellent shooter for you to be a great contributor in the NBA league, there are several examples of people that contribute to the game in different ways other than being a great scorer.
One thing Delly does really well is irritating his opponents. He is always the first to be on the ground hustling and winning most loose balls. He has by far done the best job on this years’ MVP Steph Curry, limiting him in 2 games of the final to some of his worst playoffs ever. Yes, Delly is not the traditional guard that is consistient with shooting well, but like I said earlier, he affects the game in the defensive aspect of the game.
On the contrary, here is what the best player on earth ‘LeBron James’ said about being impressed with his teammate.
“’Delly’ is a guy that’s always been counted out,” James said of the back-up guard.
“You know what I’m saying? ‘He can’t make it. He can’t do this. He can’t shoot enough. Not fast enough. Not tall enough.’ One thing about it: Heart and effort will take away a lot of the things that you cannot do. I’ll take a guy like that any day on my team.”
