Jermaine Jackson, brother of late pop icon Michael Jackson has lashed out at Donald Trump who claimed Michael lost his confidence towards the end because of ‘bad, bad, bad surgery’.
Jermaine’s comments came after serial-name-dropper Trump also repeatedly told viewers that the talented singer was a ‘really really good friend’.
But Jermaine slammed the presidential candidate and suggested that he was using his brother’s name to get votes.
He tweeted: ”Friends’ don’t pay tribute by peddling b.s. theories about Michael’s ‘loss in confidence’. This fool Trump needs to sit down. ‘Michael’s confidence was affected by the pressures, injustice and vitriol of external circumstances. Period.’ ‘Name-dropping Michael don’t make you cool and won’t win you votes. Especially when using botched facts.’
But later added that he never said: ”You’re no friend of Michael.’ He was. It’s ‘botched surgery’ talk that I don’t expect from a friend.’
Usually, fast to reply, Trump has remained quiet since Jermaine’s outburst.
Trump had made the controversial comments during his interview at the CNN Republican town hall in South Carolina.
When asked what kind of music he was into, The Donald replied: ‘Well, I think Elton John is great, I think the Stones are great.
‘The Beatles, I love. Michael Jackson was actually a very good friend of mine.’
‘I knew Michael Jackson very well; lived in Trump Tower for a long period of time, would go down to Mar-a-Lago.
‘He actually got married — you know, Lisa Marie Presley — the whole big deal at Mar-a-Lago,’ he said. ‘And I will tell you, he was up there one week with her, and he never came down, so I don’t know what was going on, but they got along.’‘People say they don’t get along but let me tell you they were there for a week and didn’t come down at all.’
Trump went on to expantiate on what he believed was the cause of Jackson’s ‘breakdown’: ‘But he was a talented guy, truly one of the most talented people and you know, I knew him very well.
He continued: ‘I knew the real story of Michael Jackson. You know, when he died people would come on and talk about him – people who didn’t know him very well.
