Jennifer Aniston who plays Claire Simmons, a woman who suffers from chronic pain in the highly rated movie Cake, has always been considered a top shot for an Academy Award. However with recent nominations for best actress from the Screen Actor Guild (SAG), Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards, it could mean the chances of an Oscar nomination is becoming more possible than ever.
“Rachel” from Friends, spoke of her new film on Oscar talk-show hosted on Epix channel. The 45-year-old actress loved the script immediately after reading it for the first time and talked about her decision to take up a somehow transformative role in comparison to her previous ones: “I feel compassion and sympathy for anyone experiencing such pain.”, Aniston said.
In the film, which also stars Anna Kendrick, Sam Worthington and Felicity Huffman, Aniston gave a beautiful, heartfelt performance as her character who was always in constant pain after a traumatic car accident, had to resort to living on pills. The famous actress also underwent both emotional and physical preparation in order to convincingly deliver the constant pain that comes with such a tasking role.
However, the talented actress was brave enough to appear without make-up, for the most part of the film, an act of boldness that very few Hollywood stars have dared, let alone at the prime age of 40 years. Aniston also underlined her wish to play more of such roles: “I always try to find these great small roles”.
