Canadian Police are currently searching for a York University student with Nigerian roots, Amina Lawal, after she went missing on her 19th birthday last Friday, CBC News Toronto reports.
Funmiloya Odusola who is Lawal’s mother, said that her daugther had gone for a school group meeting on Friday, and called around 6:30 p.m to let her know she was on her way home, but she never showed up.
“She’s a good girl. She works so hard. She’s a very smart girl … what am I going to do?” I love you … Come back home. Please,” said Odusola as she spoke to newsmen.
Lawal’s mom further stated that her daughter’s disappearance was unusual, as her daughter always stays in touch with her, and she was starting to express fears that something bad may have happened to Amina.
Lawal’s friends on the other hand told police that she had stopped attending classes for several weeks prior to her disappearance.
“There’s some information she may not have been disclosing to mom…there might be other things going on in her life that we don’t know about,” said police investigator Kevin Murrell.
Her friends have since started conversations on Twitter to help with efforts to find Amina via hashtag: #helpfindamina.
Investigators are currently seeking information about her whereabouts and anyone who has information about her should please contact appropriate authorities.
We really hope she’s found soon!
