According to the Ghana Embassy Washington D.C. website, the country on Monday began observing a three day national mourning for over 150 victims who died last Wednesday in the fire and flood disaster. The total number of victims initially reported was around 70, (click here if you missed it), but the death toll more than doubled days following the initially report.
A large number of the victims were believed to be taking shelter at the fuel station to escape the torrential rainfall when the explosion occurred. Several people that sustained various degrees of injury are still receiving treatment at different Hospitals in the capital.
Symbolically, all flags are expected to fly at half-mast up till Wednesday.
