According to a statement issued by the French Embassy in Abuja on Thursday, 2nd April, President Francious Hollande of France has invited President-elect Gen. Buhari for bilateral talks on a wide-ranging issues of interest.
Among the issues to be discussed are that of bilateral trade between both countries in the Western Hemisphere and also tackling the national security threats such as Boko Haram, where France as a military power has extensive experience.
The French leader also congratulated Buhari on his victory and wished that the goodwill diplomatic relationship under President Jonathan will be continued under Gen. Buhari.
“The French head of state assured the President-elect of France’s wish to continue the close relationship that existed with his predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan and reiterated France’s support for Nigeria and its neighbors in their efforts to combat the terrorist sect Boko Haram.”
