Most companies block Facebook in the enterprise as they see it as a major form of distraction that drops employees productivity in the workplace. So, maybe that is why Facebook has been working on a version of their social network in the workplace termed “Facebook At Work” which will enable employees chat with their fellow colleagues while also sharing documents. According to media reports, the site is expected to launch as early as January.
Media reports also indicate that the development of this new site is an attempt by Facebook to compete with the largest professional social network, LinkedIn.
