According to CNN, a Boko Haram bomb factory was discovered a few days ago by Nigerian troops after a successful seizure of a northern town from the extremists, the military said. The bomb factory was reportedly located inside a fertilizer company in Buni Yadi town in Yobe state, according to officials.
“Troops are still evacuating the materials … a large quantity of improvised explosive devices, including those commonly used by suicide bombers, were recovered from the site,” the military said in a statement.
According to Defense spokesman, Chris Olukolade, search operations in the area led to the discovery of the bomb-making factory where improvised explosive devices or IEDs were being manufactured.
“A large quantity of IEDs, including those commonly used by suicide bombers were recovered from the site,” he added in an emailed statement.
“The factory, which was located in a fertiliser company, has also converted some of the materials therein for production of all types of IEDs.
Since the insurgency of Boko Haram in Nigeria about six years ago, the jihadist has increasingly used suicide bombing attacks, including the use of young girls to terrorize the nation, especially cities in northeast Nigeria.
