It was reported recently that a teenage girl suspected to be a suicide bomber dressed in a hijab was lynched by a mob and burnt to death when she refused to be frisked (click here if you missed it). The Bauchi State Police Public Relation liaison Haruna Mohammed confirmed that the girl was mentally challenged.
“Yes, we took their statement. They (the family) noted that their daughter had that challenge.”
As reported earlier, the girl refused to be checked before entering the market and when the vigilante forcefully lifted her veil, they discovered she was carring two bottles suspected to be explosive substance and was immediately beaten to death. They then doused her in gasoline and with a burning tyre was burnt beyond recognition. The Police later discovered the substance she carried were not explosives.
The Police public liaison also said that they are investigating the case as a homicide and the perpetrators of the crime will be bought to justice.
