AY Makun, the producer of the highest grossed Nollywood movie of all times “30 Days In Atlanta” alleges that the movie is now being pirated and sold illegally via the streets around the country. AY Makun posted the following alarming message through Instagram:
“Kindly join us to say NO TO PIRACY, While we wait for policy-makers and government Agencies across Nigeria to help us fight Alaba boys once and for all. Let’s be our brothers keeper by not buying from the miscreants who are reaping from where they did not sow. Report these criminals. Original copies of ’30 Days In Atlanta will be out in less than 2 weeks from this broadcast. (Show ur support by reposting). Thanks.”
Piracy destroys an economy that is based on the creativity of intellectually-sound minds! When acts of ingeniuty demonstrated by such individuals are not adequately rewarded, there is a possibility that such brains will flee to other countries where a semblance of respect for their creations is being rewarded. Another bane of piracy is that it also destroys arts and culture because it erodes the incentives for those laboring hard to enrich it through their sweats, knowing well that the fruits of their labor will eventually be stolen.
